If You Believe: Seeing His Glory

Most of us have been there at some point in our lives – faced with the prospect of losing a loved one.

And that’s exactly where we were just a few years back. As it often does, the situation we were in had been thrust upon us without any warning.  [ Read the full article … ]

New Year, New Look

Since we’re now in the throes of a new year, I finally bit the bullet and updated the site (did someone say, “what, again?”).

Yes, again.

And I really say that with just a bit of reluctance. I actually liked the old design, but I had begun to notice some things about it that you kind readers were far too polite to mention. [ Read the full article … ]

A Double Edged Attack

Over the past few weeks, some of those closest to me have been caught up in what has been revealed to be a two-pronged attack by the enemy.

The attack itself began, as it almost always does, very subtly and almost unnoticed. Building into a major battle.

I want to spend a few minutes exploring what actually turned into a fairly strong spiritual battle in the hope that you might gain some insight into how to combat this should you, or someone close to you, experience something similar. [ Read the full article … ]

Constant Amazement

Just as fitting, this particular post could well have been named Continuing Lessons in God’s Economy.

It certainly is no secret that our economy is, at the least, a bit troubled right now. Banks in trouble, government bailouts, record unemployment levels and a stock market behaving like Chicken Little.

And the whole mess triggered by massive failures in the mortgage industry.

So – we bought a house. [ Read the full article … ]

Another Lesson In God’s Economy

Some time back, my wife had gotten a phone call from one of the banks that she does business with in her job at the car dealership.

It seems that they had been running a promotion and she was to receive a gift card from the bank in the amount of $900.00. Rather than spend the money on ourselves or on Christmas presents, she felt led to donate it to one of the local shelters that has a special place in her heart. It’s an organization called Sheltering Wings. [ Read the full article … ]

A Different Kind of Fight

Over the course of the past few weeks I’ve been following the stories of 2 men who recently had the good fortune to attend one of the Ransomed Heart’s boot camps hosted by John Eldredge.

Both of them have been freely sharing the changes that they are undergoing as a result of this experience.

To help understand the change that’s taking place, I want to share a story. It’s a true story, and it gives us some physical parallels to the spiritual changes that these men are undergoing. [ Read the full article … ]

God’s Economy

Isaiah 55:9 –

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Through a recent experience, I had the opportunity to watch those words come alive and to get a glimpse into how God’s economy can sometimes work.

Several years ago, I was a partner in a small auto dealership. One of our vendors held a contest and as one of the winners I was given the opportunity to choose a gift from their prize catalog. [ Read the full article … ]

Stand Still, And See

Exodus 14:13 –

And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will show to you today: …

A little over a year ago, we had gotten the bad news that a dear family member was diagnosed with cancer. The prognosis was not good as this particular type was highly aggressive. [ Read the full article … ]

And These Signs……

Mark 16:17 –

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

Patrick had first come into our lives about 2 years ago. Visiting us at the dealership we worked in, he was in need of a new car.

Over the course of a couple of weeks, we managed to get financing for him and put him into a car. He didn’t get to keep it long. He lost his job – then was forced to move from the house he had been living in. [ Read the full article … ]
